6 Reasons Why Gen Z is Switching to Nomadica Canned Wine

They might be drinking less, but they're also drinking better. Read on to get a feel for what toxic traits Gen Z is leaving behind when they choose Nomadica.

1. They don't want the extra sugar.

All Nomadica wines are tested in a lab for fructose and glucose, the two sugars found in wine. Each wine has <1g/L of total sugars, statistically sugar free. And no, they don't have any artificial sweeteners either. They are selected from high quality winemakers who let the fermentation process finish completely, allowing the yeast to consume all the sugar present.

2. They give a shi*t about the planet.

Cans are 400x lighter than glass bottles, reducing emissions from shipping by up to 80%. Aluminum cans also contain the highest percentage of recycled content amongst all types of beverage containers, with 68% recycled material1. Glass bottles are 20%–30% recycled content. That difference is important because using recycled materials also saves energy—a can made of recycled aluminum requires about 95% less energy to produce than one made from non-recycled materials (compared to about 25% energy savings for glass)2.

3. When they do drink, they only want to drink really good wine.

Nomadica was founded by Kristin Olszewski, who has spent the past decade working as a sommelier in some of the country's best restaurants (like Osteria Mozza in LA, Husk in Nashville). She sources Nomadica wines from incredible small-production, low-intervention wineries. Regardless of which Nomadica varietal you get, it's gonna be a premium wine.

4. They don't want to open an entire bottle on a weeknight.

One can of Nomadica is equal to 1/3 of a standard bottle of wine — that's about a glass and half. It's the perfect amount when you want to enjoy a some wine with dinner, but you don't want to open an entire bottle. No more wine going bad in the bottle — or drinking the entire bottle you didn't really intend to finish...

5. They want to make it to the gym in the morning.

Excessive alcohol will always cause a hangover. However, the sugar content of the wine or the mixers used has a major impact on how bad you feel the next morning. The preservatives and additives in most wines also contribute hugely to dehydration and getting a really bad night’s sleep.

6. They hate unnecessary chemical additives.

Conventional wines are much higher in sugar these days, and tend to be filled with chemicals and additives to improve texture, color, and flavor. The FDA has approved 76 chemicals and additives for use in winemaking. Nomadica wines contain no chemical additives — all it takes to make this wine is grapes, yeast, and time.
